Job Description


Our client requires an experienced HV Engineer who will be responsible for the development, testing and introduction of Electric Drive Unit (EDU) Systems to support the project cycle plan, delivering on time to cost and quality targets.
You must have automotive industry experience and an understanding of automotive industry requirements and standards. We are looking for a hands-on engineer, who will embrace the company's cultural and professional business environment and will work directly with our customers and with the suppliers involved in developing and releasing High voltage system / component designs for Electrical and Electronic (EE) vehicle systems.

You will be resilient and enthusiastic, an individual able to deliver results under pressure, while responding constructively to new ideas and inputs
Role Responsibilities:

  • Act as Lead Engineer for Electric Drive Units within the Propulsion Engineering department
  • Deliver EDU Systems to quality, cost and time, including maintaining the Worldwide Engineering Release System Own and deliver the Engineering Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) deliverables
  • Manage Change Request, expenditure forecasting and the relevant supplier teams in support of delivery of the programme milestones
  • Manage supplier rig and CUSTOMER vehicle test plans, including detailed planning of test and development stages through to sign off
  • Resolve issues with component engineering and vehicle attribute teams to develop designs and calibrations that meet targets
  • Ensure all appropriate CUSTOMER standards are met throughout design maturation
  • Provide input into new feature development
  • Ensure all programme design solutions meet:
  • Programme targets for cost and weight
  • Legal regulations and Requirements Management & Design Verification documentation
  • Optical Quality and Premium Consumer Product Audit (PCPA) requirements, where applicable
  • Keep all Module documentation up to date including:
  • Meeting minutes o Foundation and Programme Design analysis documents
  • Quality history and bill of design


Essential Experience:

  • Previous experience with EDU system development
  • Previous experience with eMachine development
  • Previous experience of leading the resolution of business, technical and process issues within a Project Team environment
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with strong influencing and engagement skills
  • A good working knowledge of product creation & delivery, change control, product definition and change management processes
  • Degree in relevant Mechanical/Electrical engineering discipline
  • Strong project management capabilities with the ability to multitask
  • * Able to deliver quality and consistency in a complex, highly demanding environment with a range of expectations on what customer-focussed solutions might look like.
  • Comfortable challenging cross-functionally and at a variety of levels within the business


Preferred Experience:

  • Previous experience with inverter and HEV/EV system integration
  • Previous experience with transmission development
